adidas’ new inventions have been steadily raking in engagement all throughout 2025. Pair the renewed excitement surrounding their basketball category with big swings in the lifestyle department like the still-impending adidas Jellyfish, and the Three Stripes’ energy is is unquestionably at a recent high. Now doubling down in the Y2K category, seeded pairs of the adidas Mega X showcase a fresh entrant into the tech runner vertical.
Previously headlined by silhouettes like the adidas adistar Cushion 3, their roster of tech runners now gets an extra boost by looping in some patented tech, the springy Megaride propulsion already utilized to better annunciate their soccer aesthetics. The dense paneling and heavy use TPU, particularly effective with grill-like Three Stripe branding at the quarter that becomes more abstract and curvilinear towards the toe, makes the mid-aughts design language undeniable with this silhouette. Shift a bit down for another standout feature: synthetic translucent welting that ties the mesh-heavy build up top to that immediately eye-catching Megaride unit.
While, again, the mix of neutral shades deployed for the pair featured here would make this colorway a sensible choice to introduce the silhouette, @arab_lincoln shares that this is a 1/60 sample, potentially indicating that these will be far harder to grab than just picking off the shelves. Neither the Three Stripes nor Arabstotle himself have let loose any release information for the adidas Mega X at this time, but we’ve already seen this story play out — similar first looks at the adidas Climacool preceded its launch by nearly two seasons.
