Nike Book 1 “Safari” IO9703-001

Before the start of the 2024-2025 NBA season, Devin Booker revealed yet another Player Exclusive inspired by an icon of the Swoosh archives. The Safari-themed colorway was one of two PEs that were candidates for Devin’s season debut, and it all came down to a public poll. Although the Safaris didn’t win the popular vote, it did win in the long run because the shoes are hitting retail.

Joining the likes of the Book 1 “Mowabb”, this Nike Book 1 release dives into the history of Nike footwear and unearths one of the quirkiest lifestyle shoes ever. Designed by Tinker Hatfield and hitting the market in 1987, the Air Safari was indeed one of the earlier made-for-lifestyle sneakers that later developed a cult following. Devin Booker is clearly among that group as he gave the green light for this epic crossover.

Just like the source material, the Nike Book 1 “Safari” features the iconic textured pattern on the toe-guard, a burnt orange toe-box and hits of black throughout. The only difference: the Book 1 features a plush liner whereas the actual Safaris were lined with leather.

A release date has not yet been announced, but these are expected this Fall 2025 season for $155.
