If you needed any proof that the “chunky dad shoe” era is over, take a look at Jordan Brand’s latest lifestyle leanings. The Air Jordan Loafer Mule, recently debuting in a sharp all-black leather, will be joined by other executions mirroring the store shelves of high-end fashion houses.
The reaction to the Air Jordan Loafer Mule was exactly as expected; half the crowd loved it, while the other laughed at it in ridicule. To us, that’s a sign of success, because the goal in footwear in 2025 should not be to please everyone, but to make stand-out product that warrants a response of that nature.
Keying in on the loafer aesthetic spearheaded by Italian fashion label Prada, Jordan Brand has added its own flair with its own iconic emblem on the mid-foot. Replacing the glossy patent-like leather is a hairy cow print, following a movement of fabrics and patterns typically found on handbags.
