Already established as one of the brands to look out for in the functional fashion sector, designer Jeong Li and his eponymous label has steadily grown its reputation for its meticulous selection of fabrics and how that standard shapes the elevated pragmatism of his gear. That same vision is applied to his inaugural collaboration with Salomon, focusing on a silhouette that isn’t oft included in the French brand’s lifestyle goals.
Offered in two relatively monochromatic takes of black and sienna brown, the Jeong Li x Salomon XA PRO 3D reflects the natural landscapes that typically backdrop this type of footwear in its intentional use. While Sals are fully enshrined in the streetwear echelon, Li ensures the authenticity of silhouette with these earth-toned directions. The collab itself is designed to “harmonize nature and humans by focusing on the expression of the passage of time”, a rather profound explanatino of what is simply a strong colorway on an understated model of the Salomon catalog.
Jeong Li and the sportswear brand celebrated the launch in Paris at the brand’s Le Marias flagship store on June 25th, but a wider release on the online shop of both Salomon and Jeong Li is scheduled for July 2nd ($160).
