New Balance 1000 “Desert Clay/MIint” M1000DG

by thesneakerscroll@gmail.com

As the pressure has alleviated on the New Balance 1000 once surpassed in sheer novelty by the New Balance 2010 and New Balance 2000, Boston designers have begun to take bigger swings on the model, breaking out from the simplified / split color-blocking pairs that’ve lined the newswire for months now. Arguably the most rangy such twist to date arrived with a “Grey/Still Water” edition, making material changes to the Y2K silhouette that are, apparently, here to stay.

What that look heralded was a switch from the layered waves on the sidewalls into a netted mesh exterior “cage” that replaced the top of that default arrangement. In addition, switching into metallic shades a la the silhouette’s thisisneverthat collaboration added an additional layer on intrigue. Both of those aesthetic divergences remain for a “Desert Clay/Mint” arrangement, piping glossy rose gold tones throughout the leather and mesh combination. In between, pale green and pale purple make an appearance on disparate swatches, calling to mind CNCPTS’ work on this shoe.

Just on a visual basis, it would appear that this New Balance 1000 in “Desert Clay/Mint” and the aforementioned “Still Water” are of a piece with another. Expect both to release in close proximity to one another, clocking in with the same $150 sticker price as a part of the Fall 2025 slate.
