CDG New Balance 2010 SS26

Any time a sneaker brand comes out with a new/returning model, the folks over at Comme des Garçons are often expecting a call. Rei Kawakubo’s fashion label has long been a preferred partner to assist in the rollout of any sneaker, and that’s been particularly evident as this month’s Paris Fashion Week. On top of an unexpected CDG Air Max Dolce collab and trio of ASICS GEL-SD Lyte colorways, CDG is linking with New Balance for clean interpretations of the newly-released 2010 silhouette.

If the phrase “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” was a sneaker collaborator, it would most definitely be Comme des Garçons (JJJJound gets an honorable mention though). While the brand’s SHIRT and PLAY sub-labels are privy to experiment with colors, the brand’s other divisions stay firmly rooted in minimalism and material upgrades. That’s exactly the case with these New Balance 2010s, presented under the brand’s HOMME (MAN) line in grey and cream colorways featuring premium nubuck.

To the uninitiated; the New Balance 2010 is a new 99X-inspired lifestyle model that debuted this past May. Ronnie Fieg’s KITH released the model’s debut collab that same month, followed by a limited-edition “Grey Days” release that might just be the strongest pair thus far. The 2010 won’t necessarily be “new” by the time CDG’s mini-capsule comes around (currently expected for Spring/Summer 2026), but the more important thing is that NB is giving the model attention on fashion’s biggest stage.
