Nike has just let loose some official information on the worlds-collide collaboration, letting loose their official explainer / history video and a detailed list of skate shops that’ll be stocking the shoe. What Makes The Nike SB Air Max 95 “Cactus Flower” So Special

Nike SB spared no detail in going “under the hood” with the Air Max 95. Their presentation is essentially two-fold, beginning with Eric Koston detailing the historical notes that make the collaboration natural despite the 95’s relative lack of skate history. The legendary skater draws the distinction between skate shoes and “chill shoes,” with the Sergio Lozano design becoming an off-hours favorite for icons like Kareem Campbell, famously photographed wearing the shoe and providing Koston’s first real impression of the totemic design. Further, Eric explained that skate shoes had been essentially circling the 95 for years, pulling many of its cues onto signature models without making the ties official.

To that end, Nike SB Footwear Design Expert David Nickless laid plain how the team had been discussing a Nike SB reinvention for quite some time. Reportedly, it was a “ground up” rebuild of the 95, holding onto its overall profile but softening the leather, reducing the tread height, and pushing closer to a drop-in sole design that places the wearer’s foot just above the air bubble.
