There’s no way it’d only be Lego x Nike that gets to have all the fun. As the 40th anniversary of Jordan Brand ticks on, the Air Jordan 1 Hi ’85 “Reverse Shadow” was revealed to be a Tokyo exclusive, and the brand’s latest collab is only more FOMO-inducing for those outside of the island. Joining up with Bandai Namco, Jordan Brand has multiple product sets on the way centered around the OG cut of Mike’s first signature.
Full scale models of the Air Jordan 1 Hi ’85 in both its publicly released, totemic “Shadow” and the sample-turned-exclusive “Reverse Shadow” serve as the most high-profile announcement. Notably, the plastic display sets will, in fact, be sold in the US, certainly not filling the role of a true wearable but perhaps providing an adjacent substitute all the same.
In addition to that buildable launch, those in the Japanese market will have the chance to participate in something of a gacha activation, where miniature versions of the Air Jordan 1 Hi ’85 will drop in 18 colorways. For the historians in the audience, you’ll note that’s a larger set than usual. In addition to the 16 released versions of the OG, two mystery colorways are among the candidates once you open your blind box. It’s likely that the “Reverse Shadow” is at least one of those unannounced variations, but there’s a wide range of non-85 editions to pull from, be it the ever-elusive “Lakers” sample, the “Varsity Red” or “Georgetown” retros, or something entirely off the board.
Pre-orders for the Bandai Namco x Air Jordan 1 High ’85 model go live on July 30th. The miniatures will launch in-store at Bandai Namco locations in Japan this October, but online reservations begin on August 7th before shipping out in December.
