Nike is showing some love for women’s basketball once again with a new PE for Dallas Wings guard Arike Ogunbowale. The Nike Kobe 5 Protro Arike Ogunbowale PE was recently seen making its on-court debut and is already turning heads thanks to its soft pink, chrome, and metallic gold color scheme.
The PE features a reflective chrome overlay, a blush pink synthetic upper, and premium grey accents at the heel and collar. The most eye-catching detail is a gold foil Swoosh that slices through the side panels for just the right amount of bling on a shoe that belongs to the reigning champion’s most clutch scorer. A segmented tongue and Zoom Air cushioning round out the performance-focused details.
The Arike Ogunbowale Kobe 5 Protro PE follows Ogunbowale’s 2023 GT Cut 2 PE and continues to build her profile as an influential player for the Nike Basketball team. Nike hasn’t announced a retail release date, but fans are hoping this one will be general release eventually—especially as more and more player exclusives Kobes are hitting stores lately.
In addition to being a celebration of Arike’s career, the Kobe 5 Protro PE is also a part of Nike Basketball’s continued effort to show up for women athletes in new ways with thoughtful storytelling and stylish designs. This is also a subtle but major tribute to Kobe Bryant’s love for women’s basketball that will continue to live on through PEs like this.
For now, the Nike Kobe 5 Protro Arike Ogunbowale PE will remain a player exclusive. But with so much buzz around WNBA PEs now, we wouldn’t be surprised if this one gets a general release down the line.
