By shedding previous centerpiece Satou Sabally and bringing in next generation phenom Paige Bueckers, the Dallas Wings made it clear to the WNBA public that the franchise would be entering a new chapter. Even if the win-loss record isn’t spotless so far this year, it’s the promise of Paige Buckets and their homegrown star point guard, Arike Ogunbowale, that makes the future so bright for the Texas squad.
Though much of the attention in the Kobe Bryant x WNBA world has recently gone to one Caitlin Clark, the Swoosh just recognized the 4x All-Star with the Kobe 5 “Arike Ogunbowale” PE. Already acknowledged with a special do-up of the Nike Zoom GT Cut 2 in 2023, the Notre Dame product departs from its fiery arrangement with a far more delicate look for this edition. A pink synthetic base starts things off, breaking into some novel color-blocking with paired chrome and grey overlays, coming to a head with a geometric sectioned tongue. Likely alluding to her already-stacked trophy case, gilded appliqué Swooshes close things out on the lateral and medial sides.
With Nike putting more energy into the PE-turned-public pipeline in recent months, we can’t entirely rule out a public release for the Nike Kobe 5 Protro “Arike Ogunbowale,” but all current indications point towards this remaining in the Wings guard’s closet for the foreseeable future.
