So far in the adidas Anthony Edwards story, the Timberwolves superstar has been left on his own to prop up his signature line. That’s not in any pejorative sense, either — the model’s futuristic design, Ant’s natural charisma, and boundary-pushing work from adidas’ marketing arm is all the first edition needed to vault into “sneaker of the year” conversations in its run on the shelves. However, as we’ve seen across the basketball shoes world before, it’s never a bad idea for any brand to leverage their partners to bring some extra life to performance lines; see KITH x Nike LeBron, A Ma Maniere x Air Jordan 39, the ongoing PUMA Stewie x Harry Potter partnership.
While there’s hardly been a whisper of any such move for Ant Man, one of the Three Stripes’ most significant collaborators just broke the silence. CLOT founder and frontman Edison Chen took to Instagram to share a tacit confirmation of a CLOT x adidas Anthony Edwards collaboration, sharing graphic insoles that bear both his imprint’s logo and Edwards’ arboreal stamp. Each sport blue-hot flame depictions atop of a black overall base, a possible indication of the palette this link-up may play with. Though such an announcement would typically be straightforward in which silhouette it hinted towards, the timing on this tease is crucial; the AE1 is nearing the end of its run, yet the Anthony Edwards 2 still has a few months before it hits the shelves.
Any adidas Anthony Edwards collab is sure to be big business, so we’ll keep our coverage updated with harder details as soon as they emerge. For now, check out the Edison Chen teaser embedded below.
