BAPE announces the return of a much-loved sneaker in 2025 – the BAPE STA Shark. Originally released as a limited edition drop, the shoe inspired by the ocean predator debuts three new colorways in black, white, and purple.
The BAPE STA’s design is rooted in the brand’s streetwear background and origins as a footwear staple in early 2000s sneaker culture, but the Shark model elevates it with a splash of extra flavor. A graphic of a shark’s face is a staple to the silhouette, with iterations seen on both side panels of the shoe, stacked under the classic STA logo graphic. The silhouette is one of the brand’s most recognizable silhouettes, reimagined with high-end fabrics and details.
A soft calf leather upper introduces a new level of comfort to this year’s drop, while the STA logos are featured in a glossy patent leather material to add a striking contrast. The Japanese flag motif features close to the heel and “WGM” branding features on the back tabs. It comes with wide laces and BAPE branded lace locks, with each pair finishing with clean and crisp details.
Whether you’re looking for the minimal white, camo-black, or eye-catching purple, each option is a comfortable middle ground of nostalgia and newness. The BAPE STA Shark collection for 2025 is a testament to BAPE’s ability to nail the ratio of archival design and modern refinement.
The entire pack will release August 9, 2025, at BAPE.com and in BAPE retail stores worldwide. Priced at JP¥29,000 (around $200 USD).
