Few sneakers have experienced the success of the Air Jordan 4 “Brick by Brick,” a bombastic moment for the Queens moment that vaulted him up the Jordan collaborator power rankings singlehandedly. However, those whose interest in the hobby predates the pandemic know that the BMXer has been a staple since his Nigel Sylvester Air Jordan 1 High, a reliable secondary market asset in its own right. As the “Brick by Brick” becomes a staple of Sneaker of the Year lists, Sylvester returns to that Air Jordan 1, or more accurately, a one-off sample pair produced exclusively for the athlete.
Indeed, this wide release adapts that blackened, distressed layout extremely faithfully, bearing the removed lateral Swoosh, fire red accents, and distressed details. To that latter aspect, inherent scuff marks and stains speak to the “Better With Time” aspect, alighting the shoe’s purpose as genuine bike wear and Sylvester’s unbelievable rise since that aforementioned 2018 edition.
