Adults in the Venn diagram of LEGO aficionado and sneakerhead may bemoan its lack of full-grown sizing, but the Nike x LEGO partnership is off to a great start all the same. If you don’t believe it simply by seeing the product from afar, Fanatics Fest offered an in-person showcase of their newly minted relationship, with a more permanent residence on the kids’ floor of the freshly redesigned House of Innovation in Midtown Manhattan.
All that to say, the drumbeat of kids’ kicks coming out of the Beaverton-meets-Billund crossover keeps on keeping on, now christening another LEGO x Nike Dunk Low. This third version, following a simplistic white and black and an intergalactic “Brave Blue,” builds on the former, retaining the DIY linework but kitting the shoe out in Minifig yellow.
Glossy finishes and a flush body build, eschewing the overlapping paneling and overall depth from mainline releases, help further evoke the golden denizens of the LEGO universe. Red, square logos on the tongue and insoles stamp the Danish company anew, while the shoe box bears convertible instructions to turn it into a brick case — a hallmark of all the duo’s output so far.
The LEGO x Nike Dunk Low “Tour Yellow” doesn’t have a hard release date just yet, but expect this shoe to hit shelves before the year is out. Watch our Sneaker Release Dates page for updates in the coming weeks.
