AVAVAV’s Subversive Streak Shines On adidas Holiday 2025 Capsule

It may not make an end-of-year list, but hopefully the AVAVAV x adidas partnership sticks around in fans’ memories of 2025. Amid a true deluge of colorways for the adidas Superstar as the Three Stripes continually spotlighted their throwback icon, the Stockholm imprint brought one of the more lasting transformations to the shoe, extending its toe cap and resulting in what critics and fans alike dubbed “Clown Shoes.”

That capsule, in truth, followed up their similarly radical overhaul in the “Superfinger,” a scuba-like modification of the staple shoe. However, our resurfacing of the Spring 2025 capsule is intentional, as their Holiday sequel reprises the Superstar Modified and the Moonrubber, the latter a bulbous remix of the adidas Megaride. While two colorways in distressed all-black offer a just-adjacent touch-up of what we saw earlier this year, a formal-like flooded brown look on the Suparstar and a multi-color gray/olive on the Moonrubber are genuinely novel.

The AVAVAV adidas capsule is set to release on November 14th, already listed on select retail calendars overseas—a $340 retail price for the Superstar and a $420 MSRP for the Bubble.
