Wale and Nike are bringing the rapper’s 2008 track “Nike Boots” to life with an actual collaboration on the Air Max Goadome, unveiled as part of a commercial previewing his upcoming album everything is a lot.
Wale’s affinity for the Air Max Goadome goes back literal decades. The Washington, D.C. artist has long contended that the DMV area is responsible for making the Nike ACG model iconic, while others, notably Jim Jones of Harlem’s Dipset, have famously argued otherwise. Surely having an official collaboration gives Wale some bragging rights.
Designed by Wale and his creative director Pierre Edwards, the 2000-born cult classic goes full luxury with a black leather croc-skin finish. The sneaker is portrayed getting “seeded” to the everything is a lot feature list, which includes names like Shaboozey, Ty Dolla $ign, and more.
The Air Max Goadome has been enjoying something of a resurgence in recent months, led by a Yeat x Nike project as well as upcoming pony hair styles that have already got the streets talking. For his part, Wale has also been more active, back to teasing high-profile Nike releases just as he was a decade ago. He was involved in the launch of the “DMV” Foamposites last year, and more recently, he’s become the frontman for the upcoming Nike GT Future.
No release date for the Wale x Nike Air Max Goadome has been announced yet, but we’ll point out that his album everything is a lot drops November 14th. Stay tuned for further updates.
