It’s no mystery that Devin Booker has a thing for the Converse Chuck Taylor. His first-ever shoe collaboration with the Nike, Inc. umbrella was actually with Converse and their timeless sneaker, proffering a simplistic take on the Chuck 70 in a toe-less effort in an all-cream canvas. He’s also worn the black/white Chuck 70 to NBA Media Day, but the silhouette is more than just a statement, it’s a regular part of his shoe rotation.
For what may be one of his last Player Exclusives of the Nike Book 1, Devin, Nike, and Converse came together to create a Nike Book 1 “Chuck Taylor” PE, imposing the iconic high-top’s likeness onto the Book 1 build. The shoe has a black canvas upper with the Swoosh logo on the lateral side, while the medial carries a heavier load in the storytelling via the All-Star badge and ventilation holes. The midsole even features the black rim that circumvents the entire bottom, while the name plate appears at the heel. This marks the first time a Converse x Nike sneaker has been worn on court.
Earlier this year in February, Nike and Converse crossed over to present Booker with a special PE to commemorate the moment he became the all-time leading scorer for the Phoenix Suns franchise. Inspired by the Converse Startech Mid, the shoe worn by previous record-holder Walter Davis, that Nike Book 1 “ATLS” first explored the potential collaboration between the two American sportswear brands.
Booker’s PE load has been picking up as of late; he just revealed a “What The” Book 1 in white, while earlier this year he dazzled the crowd with a Book 1 “Dark Cherry Metallic” inspired by his 1996 Chevy Impala SS.
