The Melitta Baumeister x Nike Vomero Premium pushes Nike’s design language into experimental territory with a scorched aesthetic that mirrors Baumeister’s sculptural approach. Fresh off her National Design Award win, the designer brings that momentum into her first Nike project, creating a standout piece within the ‘Run Like No One Is Watching” capsule.
Baumeister riffs on the Vomero as a performance-couture mashup. The upper comes in a flaming orange hue, layered with heavy black distressing for a crinkled, heat-treated look on every panel. The midsole is similarly burnt, so the silhouette comes off as very intentional on being weathered rather than clean. It’s a bold shift for a model known for clean running lines.
Small details shape the narrative further. The tan sockliner nods to classic Nike packaging, while the enlarged AIR lettering and black Swoosh echo familiar era-specific branding. Hidden inside the outsole are printed eyes positioned in the forefoot and heel windows, adding a playful twist that aligns with Baumeister’s surrealist hints. This approach fits today’s era of couture-leaning runners, seen recently in Swarovski’s embellished models and other high-fashion collaborations.
The Melitta Baumeister x Nike Vomero Premium is expected to launch in Spring 2026 through select retailers and Nike.com. The retail price tag is set at $260 USD.
