Air Jordan 12 Obsidian 2012

Released in February 1997, the Air Jordan 12 “Obsidian” quietly carved out a unique place in Jordan Brand history. Unlike most originals, it arrived outside Chicago’s Bulls palette, signaling a rare stylistic detour. That decision alone made it memorable at launch.

At the time, the Obsidian stood apart for another reason. It became the only OG colorway of the original five Air Jordan 12s that Michael Jordan never wore on court. Consequently, its legacy grew through scarcity and curiosity rather than game moments.

On the design front, the Air Jordan 12 “Obsidian” continued the tale of luxury. Obsidian blue leather is the highlight of the upper, while white mudguards add a touch of freshness. Stitched paneling that echoes the Japanese Rising Sun was a feature derived from Air Jordan 12s original theme.

After sitting in the vault for fifteen years, the model finally returned in 2012. However, demand has kept it firmly in collector territory. Today, pairs are commonly found on resale platforms like StockX.

The Air Jordan 12 “Obsidian” remains available through resale markets, offering collectors access to one of Jordan Brand’s most unconventional OG releases.
