This marks Salehe Bembury’s first take on the New Balance 992 and only his second Made in USA project. Following his 990v2 from 2022, the approach again prioritizes texture, earth-driven color, and depth. The timing feels deliberate, especially as the 992 continues resurfacing under New Balance’s broader heritage push.
A vivid blue mesh base anchors the upper, layered with green leather panels and wrapped in thick, hairy suede overlays. Grey suede adds contrast along the mudguard, while cork insoles and exposed branding details reinforce Bembury’s material-first philosophy. The palette stays expressive but controlled, avoiding excess despite its complexity.
Compared to recent 992 collaborations, this version feels more tactile and less polished by design. That decision adds character to the shoe, continuing with Bembury’s long-running series of outdoor textures reimagined for daily life.
