Japanese streetwear staple Doublet is back in the sneaker spotlight as it collaborates with ASICS on the Doublet x ASICS GEL-Quantum 360 “Tyrannosaurus Rex”. The concept-driven drop is Doublet’s latest effort to reshape and redefine high-performance silhouettes as collectible streetwear. The design takes it a step further than even the label’s experimental Kayano series, with a heavy emphasis on visual narrative.
The ASICS GEL-Quantum 360 is completely reworked through a leather upper printed with a full Tyrannosaurus Rex graphic. The dinosaur’s eyes stretch across the quarter panels, while nostrils sit near the toe, creating a surprisingly balanced layout. Although playful, the execution feels deliberate rather than chaotic.
What elevates the design is the midsole. ASICS’ full-length GEL cushioning resembles exposed dinosaur teeth, visually tying performance tooling to the prehistoric theme. Red detailing between the upper and sole reads like gums, bridging form and concept in a way few collaborations attempt.
Packaging reinforces the idea with a custom shoebox echoing the same facial elements. Despite the bold narrative, the shoe remains wearable thanks to restrained tones and familiar cushioning.
