Nike is quietly continuing the gradual repositioning of the Superfly, shifting the silhouette further away from track and toward everyday life. After its re-emergence at its SNKRS Showcase moment and subsequent renewed attention with Sha’Carri Richardson, the model has slowly evolved through material-driven updates. Now, that momentum is building into something more drastic.
The Nike Air Superfly Moc takes the Superfly away from laces altogether, converting the once more performance-minded silhouette into a streamlined slip-on. Swapping out a traditional closure system for a full-length nylon sock upper delivers a snug fit, leaning into minimalism. The result feels very intentional and works in with Nike’s continued push for sleek, low-profile footwear.
The debut “Metallic Silver” colorway further grounds the shoe in its Y2K-era beginnings, calling back to the finish that gave the Superfly its reintroduction. Perforated accents and a black midsole hold a visual contrast without too much interruption. By comparison, the “Black/Muslin” option opts more for lifestyle-first, with soft suede materials and an off-white sole that feels less athletic and more elevated.
Either way, the Superfly has always lived by iteration over repetition. This moccasin-inspired execution is in keeping with that lineage, adding a touch more refinement to the silhouette rather than attempting a complete revamp. Instead of feeling too experimental, it plays more directional, a hint at what Nike could see for the Superfly next.
