Vans Rachel Goatley Paris Fashion Week

SZA 1-of-1 Vans by Rachel Goatley quietly stole attention during Paris Fashion Week. Instead of relying on runway placement, the moment unfolded organically as SZA arrived for the Louis Vuitton Menswear show. It felt like a reminder that sneakers still hold power in high fashion.

The custom pair, titled “Ladybug Garden,” uses the Vans Authentic as its base. A white canvas becomes a jewelry display, layered with gemstone flowers, ladybugs, and delicate gold accents. The balance between softness and statement gives the shoe real presence.

Gold lace tips elevate the finish, while custom dubraes flip the logo into “Vansza” in red. That detail ties the project directly to SZA without overpowering the design. It reads personal rather than promotional.

Rachel Goatley’s background makes the collaboration feel intentional. The New York designer has worked under Greg Yuna and partnered with Kith, Bad Bunny, and Nigel Sylvester. Her ability to translate jewelry language onto footwear sets her work apart.

Beyond the Ladybug Garden pair, SZA commissioned four additional customs. Three Old Skools and another Authentic continue the gem-heavy theme. Each pair treats Vans silhouettes like wearable art rather than street staples.

These designs reflect Vans’ broader shift toward elevated storytelling. The brand has explored pearls, crystals, and couture finishes before. Seeing that direction applied to one-of-one creations pushes the idea further.

None of the pairs will be made public. Still, moments like this show how classic skate models can live inside luxury spaces. SZA 1-of-1 Vans by Rachel Goatley remain a Paris Fashion Week exclusive, worn only by SZA, with no release planned and no retail availability.
