Nike’s strengthening bond with New York City’s pivotal Lower East Side battleground continues with a special partnership with a true cultural historian. Clayton Patterson’s fervent archiving of the neighborhood activity has proven to be more important than ever, particularly during an era in which gentrification and shifts into blandness continue downtown. Nike’s taking upon itself to reenergize the area with key link-ups with Clayton, LAAMS, and other key figures of the ‘hood.
This Air Force 1 was made to celebrate Patterson’s upcoming book release and art show, which it includes an insanely deep catalog of photography ranging from 1986 and 2001 New York City. The show will be open at 47 Chrystie St. on Friday, February 6th through March 1st.
This Friends And Family Air Force 1 utilizes a full-grain black leather Air Force 1 as the base, with white Swooshes and heel-tab placed with a softer woven material. Clayton’s signature skull design is stitched onto the heel, and his name embroidered at the back-tab. Again, this collaboration is a Friends & Family issue made just for Patterson and his inner circle.

Beyond his visual cataloguing through film, Clayton is also renowned for his stitched custom hats (available here), a true IYKYK collectible that has become part of the lore of the neighborhood. He’s partnered with Supreme, Scarr’s Pizza, and more.
