Attempting to tap into the buzziest and most youthful brands is, understandably, means hitting a moving target. With the long baking process that comes with producing footwear, oftentimes bridging streetwear imprints that are the hottest resale commodities into footwear can be an incredibly tough needle to thread. adidas joining hands with Hellstar has been the rare exception to the rule, bringing the Three Stripes legacy to an apparel company that’s still got plenty of sway in the younger set.
Back in September, the dawn of the Hellstar x adidas Superstar indicated that the Los Angeles company would get to truly run wild in the German giant’s catalog; that initial lifestyle release came replete with the skoky motifs of the Hellstar catalog and reimagined it in the image of their maximalist design language. Only furthering our understanding of their powerful creative license, those same hallmarks now come to the gridiron via images of a Hellstar x adidas Superstar Football cleat.
Though understandably, a new spiked platform marks a divergence from the street edition, otherwise this white palette flip sticks to that busy script; tumbled leather paces the extended edges, exposed stitching, and most notably, the licks of flame that jut out from the quarter panel. A neon co-branding tag and neon hits in the three lace options ensure the colorway is just as eye-catching as the hardware notes.
This style surfacing days ahead of the Super Bowl doesn’t feel like a coincidence by any means. It’s unclear whether the public will see a launch for this pair, but at this juncture, it’s unclear who, if anyone, would lace these up in Santa Clara. To our knowledge, none of the most high-profile players on the Seahawks or Patriots have current adidas sponsorship deals. While we sort out who will get their hands on them, catch shots of the Hellstar x adidas Superstar Cleats below.
