The media sprint surrounding Teyana Taylor’s Air Jordan 3 “Concrete Rose” continued with an appearance by the star herself at NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles. Teyana and co. took over the Jordan House Of Greatness space in Inglewood, showcasing the sneaker in a curated setting lined with thousands of red roses to drive home the theme.
Early pics of the “Concrete Rose” 3s have been fairly bashful to this point, but Teyana’s All-Star appearance affords us our most detailed look yet. The transformation is about as ambitious as they come. First we have a rugged, textured midsole made to look like it’s been dipped in cement, true to the theme with jagged edges along the top. The upper is equally striking, anchored by large green “vines” that attach to both sides. Red fabric roses bloom on the tongue, complemented by a gold metal rose hangtag.
The Teyana Taylor x Air Jordan 3 has taken shape in just a matter of weeks, first unveiled following the singer/actress’ debut night hosting Saturday Night Live. Teyana previously visited the Jordan Building at Nike’s Phil Knight Campus last year, planting the seeds for the project on a panel lined with red roses. The theme, much like her first Jordan collaboration on the Jordan 1 Zoom CMFT 2, traces back to her Harlem upbringing and how she “rose from concrete.”
