“Electric Indigo” Shocks The New Balance 2000 On February 23rd

by thesneakerscroll@gmail.com

With its inaugural color stories (the very first “Still Water,” the subsequent “Rose Sugar”), the New Balance 2000 was clearly set up by the Boston brand to frontline its sporty vibe. Even accounting for their roster of earnest performance models and signature athletes, doing so was a prudent move; the visible tech model earnestly presented a new aesthetic within the NB catalog.

In the time since, we’ve seen the 2000 flit towards the brand’s well-known penchant for neutral tones, whether bracketed by more vibrant interplay or left to those calmer hues entirely. As the sneaker settles into 2026 as a widely accessible member of the team, it appears those same sporty concepts are due up again as an “Electric Indigo” steps into the mix. The unashamed embrace of purple is notable on the most basic level (i.e. it’s not particularly a New Balance-y color, all things considered), as is its deployment; a soft gradient takes over the mesh base before a darker counterpart highlights the cushioning pods underfoot.

As mentioned above, the New Balance 2000 “Taro/Electric Indigo” is confirmed to release via NewBalance.com on February 23rd, dropping alongside the “Slate Grey” and black colorways. The usual $170 sticker price is on tap for each.
