HOKA’s rise has been fueled mostly by suburban dads, but some of its collaborations make clear that they’re trying to reach the streets all the same. Such is also the case with this Foot Locker campaign, with HOKA joining forces with Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane to spotlight the Bondi 7 silhouette.
The campaign pairs Gucci Mane with his real-life lookalike, veteran NBA referee James Williams. Williams has long been known around the league as Gucci’s doppelganger, to the point that players rarely use his actual name when talking to him — or lobbying for a call. As fate would have it, the two finally crossed paths for a photo last year (embedded below).
The campaign video shows Gucci browsing sneakers with Williams cast as a Foot Locker employee, delivering an ad-libbed skit that wraps with Gucci’s signature “Guwop!”
Not to get lost in the shuffle, the HOKA Bondi 7 is a lifestyle/walking model featuring made with open mesh and memory foam. Gucci’s pick is a stealthy “Black/Silver” colorway, available now via Foot Locker HERE.
