Japanese pop duo YOASOBI is entering the world of sneaker collabs. And they’re not traveling far to do so. Ayase and Ikura are convening with their countrymen at ASICS on a three-pair collection of GEL-Kinetic Fluent styles, transforming the theme behind “Just a Little Step” (もう少しだけ) onto footwear.
YOASOBI song ideas generally come from novels and short stories, specifically submissions from creative writing website monogatary.com. Released as part of YOASOBI’s second EP in 2021, “Just a Little Step” is about how small incremental changes can help improve the overall self. That idea is reportedly central to the duo’s debut sneaker collab. All three sneakers stand out with clear tubes from heel-to-toe, slightly evoking the rarely-discussed GEL-MAI silhouette. Black, silver, purple/pink colorways will be available, all of which you can find embedded below.

As for the canvas, the ASICS GEL-Kinetic Fluent is a premium Sportstyle model based off the GEL-Quantum Kinetic. ASICS’ patented Scutoid GEL is housed in the heel, while the forefoot favors a more standard cushioning setup.
The YOASOBI x ASICS GEL-Kinetic Fluent collection is confirmed to release March 2026. It’s unclear whether we’ll be getting a global or Japan-exclusive release as of this writing. See official images below and stay tuned for further details.
