Jordan Brand has a history of dropping sneakers reminiscent of teams Michael Jordan tormented during his playing days. The Air Jordan 4 “Lakers” recalls MJ’s first NBA Championship, earned against Magic Johnson, James Worthy, and the rest of the Lakers at The Forum in 1991. It also nods to Jordan’s brotherhood with Kobe Bryant, which began as a mentor-mentee relationship and eventually evolved into a close friendship (and also helped produce some of the dopest Jordan PEs ever).
The Air Jordan 4 “Lakers” begins with a premium nubuck upper done in Imperial Purple. University Gold appears on the insoles and tongue logo, while OG-inspired Nike branding lands on the heel and outsole. Black and grey accents across the netting, eyestays, and other ancillary elements tie the design together.
