Energy around the global game continues spilling into everyday footwear as Nike revisits one of its most memorable pitch designs. Landing as football fever builds toward the sport’s biggest stage, the Nike Air Max 90 “Hypervenom” borrows visual cues from the original Nike Hypervenom I boots released in 2013, a pair closely associated with Neymar during the early years of his rise.
That connection shows up immediately in the bold color blocking. Bright orange dominates the upper while black overlays carve through the design, giving the pair a sharp contrast similar to the early Hypervenom boots. Nike incorporated the lightly dimpled texture that follows the strike-zone pattern found on the cleats on to the upper as well. The big black Swoosh slicing forward to the toe encapsulates the destructive style that made the Hypervenom line so great on the field.
Classic Air Max details keep the model grounded in familiar territory. A large “90” graphic appears across the heel, while Nike Air branding sits along the lateral side. The inside of the shoe features a black midsole with the visible Air unit inside, which also incorporates some orange accents tying it back to the outsole. Minor details like the skull-and-crossbones print near the heel pay homage to the edgier Hypervenom.
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup quickly approaching, Nike is injecting pitch influence into the worlds of lifestyle footwear yet again.
The Nike Air Max 90 “Hypervenom” is expected to release on May 21, 2026 for $150 via Nike.com and select retailers.
