Nike and Jacquemus continue exploring the space where sport history meets modern fashion. Their latest collaboration reaches deep into the brand’s archives, revisiting one of Nike’s earliest running ideas and reshaping it with a cleaner, contemporary feel.
That direction leads to the Jacquemus x Nike Moon Shoe “Fauna Brown”, a new interpretation of the vintage runner that helped define Nike’s early identity.
The upper is constructed of ruched nylon and soft full-grain leather pieces, coming together to create a deep brown color. The quilting across the toe box and midfoot create a softly sculpted look on the sneaker that feels new in a sea of conventional runners. Cream Nike Swooshes lace the sides while cream laces and minimal suede details help contrast the sneaker while keeping with the monochromatic theme. The silhouette of the shoe is true to form with a low profile and mimics the slim silhouette of the original Moon Shoe.
The lower half of the shoe maintains a strong connection to Nike’s early running past. A dotted gum waffle outsole allows for a classic traction setup, paired with a soft off-white colored midsole to offset the darkness of the upper. Curving slightly upward at the heel with a pull tab, the Profile is able to keep it’s racing shape.
Branding stays minimal across the design. Jacquemus appears on the tongue, heel, and sockliner, while Blue Ribbon Sports-inspired packaging connects the release to Nike’s earliest chapter.
