Kobe Bryant’s relentless pursuit for self-improvement influenced his surroundings. After his retirement, he and Nike decided to reinvent the “Retro” by introducing modern performance elements to years-old silhouettes. The Protro movement eventually landed into the lifestyle category with the Air Force 1 in 2025, and not a year later, Nike is ready to bring those same standards to the Dunk Low.
The first Dunk Low Protro will indeed be the Lower Merion Aces edition; those are scheduled to drop on March 23rd as a pre-order. Next up is the Dunk Low Protro “Draft Day” that once again tells the epic story of how the Black Mamba was selected by the Charlotte Hornets and traded over to the Los Angeles Lakers for Vlade Divac. Jerry West mastery at its finest.
Crude photos of the shoes surfaced earlier this year, but now new images reveal the ins and outs of how Nike upgraded the Dunk Low silhouette with a drop-in React foam, a reworked traction pattern featuring the Kobe sheath logo, more padding on the lining and tongue, and updated materials. This version also seems to feature a wear-away exterior on the Swoosh logo and the heel, going from a teal blue to a yellow to further tell the story of how Kobe Bryant’s career changed instantly in one night.
This Dunk Low is likely dropping in June to coincide with the NBA Draft as well as the Kobe 9 EM “Draft Day” release, so stay tuned for updates.
