Quiet as kept, the Nike Air Force 1 Low has become the Swoosh’s foremost canvas to explore trends that are gaining traction elsewhere in the industry. Beaverton designer and vocal insider Frank Cooke cited as much with the Nike Air Force 1 Low “Boucle,” whose proximity to Vans’ own explorations of similar Chanel-inspired aesthetics he ascribed to “great minds think alike” parallel thinking.
With the Nike Sprint Sister already drawing widespread comparisons to New Balance’s trendy fare with the likes of Basketcase and Miu Miu, perhaps the same defense is warranted again. Aesthetic similarities aside, the NIke Air Force 1 Low in “Ridgerock” and “Ocean Blue” explores delicate aesthetics with a cracked suede foundation and double laces. Yet look a bit closer for a clever interpretation of the AF1’s usual toe perforations, now splayed into floral, cross cut-outs that only enhances the softened hallmarks elsewhere in the shoe.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low “Femme” should be hitting retailers soon, seeing as the paired Nike Sprint Sister is already available via Nike. Retail pricing for the shoe at hand hasn’t been announced yet.
