Fashion’s balletcore wave keeps finding its way into sneakers, and Nike is tapping into that shift through one of its most unconventional designs. The Air Rift has always lived outside the traditional sneaker lane. Since its 1996 debut, the split-toe runner has carried a distinct identity built around its tabi-style shape and adjustable strap system.
That foundation remains, but the Nike Air Rift Ballet “Light Soft Pink” approaches the silhouette from a softer angle. Satin-like fabric wraps the upper in a gentle pink tone that changes the mood of the design immediately. The familiar midfoot strap still handles lockdown, yet the visual focus shifts toward the extended ribbon laces that travel up the ankle.
Those ribbons allow the pair to be styled in different ways. Some will wrap them like ballet slippers, while others may tie them behind the ankle for a cleaner finish. The detail quietly links the model to traditional dance footwear while keeping the Rift’s unconventional DNA intact.
Underneath, the structure stays recognizable. A sculpted midsole and the signature split-toe outsole preserve the shape that made the original Rift so memorable nearly three decades ago.
