New Balance Suits Up The 1906R For Hiking

Where hasn’t New Balance taken the 1906? Since returning to the catalog and becoming a best-seller, the remodeled performance runner has dipped into the storefronts of some of the Boston brand’s most beloved collaborators, from Salehe Bembury to Action Bronson to KITH, and taken on plenty of side gigs, most notably with the 1906L that still elicits a “love ’em or hate ’em” reaction a year and change after its introduction.

To that latter point, we’ve become quite accustomed to NB swapping out the last letter in the 1906R name as fresh builds and new targets grace the erstwhile runner. The New Balance 1906R at hand stops short of a genuine pivot in that manner, but new pull closures on the laces and tighter-knit mesh foundations ready the model for the trail. Atop an all-neutral base, certainly not a step out of character for New Balance, subtle burgundy hits in the N-lock unit add some life.

The New Balance 1906R in light beige is already popping up at global retailers, all but confirming that a drop via stateside partners and official New Balance channels isn’t far off.
