Bangkok’s Carnival Reveals ASICS GEL-Kayano 12.1 Collaboration Inspired By Their Hometown

by thesneakerscroll@gmail.com

Carnival unleashes a first look at their upcoming GEL-Kayano 12.1 inspired by Phra Nakhon, the hometown of the Bangkok-based sneaker boutique’s founders as well as the birthplace of modern Bangkok.

Now their fourth project with ASICS, Carnival reveals the updated tech-runner silhouette featuring a primary silver overlay over a white base, but the detailing os focused on the green and blue gradient placement on the upper strikes. A closer inspection reveals that the white underlay isn’t a simple white mesh, but rather a boucle-like fabric that features specks of various colors.

Another detail worth noting is a unique modification of the overlay at the rear, just above where the shop’s name is written in Thai. The significance behind that alteration isn’t quite clear, although we’re certain that it’s deliberate in telling the story of Phra Nakhon, the official moniker of this collaborative release. A custom shoebox in blue is also confirmed to be part of the release.

Official release details regarding the Carnival x ASICS GEL-Kayano 12.1 hasn’t been shared just yet, so stay tuned.
