If it wasn’t already, the term “Sashiko” is now etched into the sneaker dictionary. The traditional Japanese stitching technique has informed countless sought-after releases in recent years, and the Sashiko Gals, a collective of 15 women based in Otsuchi, are arguably the hottest collaborators in footwear right now.
Nike has shown a clear affinity for the craft, applying it to everything from the ubiquitous Vomero 5 to a handful of Nike SB projects. Jordan Brand has followed suit, most notably with a 2020 Air Jordan 4 that still commands attention on the secondary market. Now the technique lands on another icon, with this Air Jordan 6 “Sashiko” joining the model’s 35th anniversary run.
Pale Ivory leather makes up the bulk of the upper, paired with stitched canvas underlays and visible stitching along the panel edges. The Sashiko detailing is most pronounced on the tongue cover and heel, both utilizing the Jujizashi method with cross-stitching over blue tie-dye canvas. The heel stands out in particular, featuring an abstract cutout that reveals the Jumpman beneath. Work Blue accents hit the spoiler and midsole, while white and Pale Ivory round things out underfoot.
The Air Jordan 6 “Sashiko” doesn’t have a concrete release date yet, but a Summer or Fall 2026 drop seems likely. Know that our 2026 Jordan releases page will be kept current with all available info.
