Sometimes colorways are relied on time and time again because they work. Nike understands that concept and this new Dunk fully embraces the classic red, white, and black colorblocking without allowing the sneaker to feel like a lazy effort or tired excuse. The Nike Dunk Low Retro “Black/University Red” will release in May 2026 with that signature Chicago vibes we’ve come to expect from such colorways, but additional accents provide a fresher vibe.
University Red really dominates the upper, which begins with black leather base around the toe box, sides, and collar. Red dominates the overlays, Swoosh, heel, and outsole, dressing the Dunk in most of its color. White accents land on the rear paneling, heel tab, and midsole to clean things up a bit and allow the color blocking to feel modern instead of bulky.
Throwing a splash of University Gold onto the shoe really shifts the tone. The gold lands on the tongue branding and heel embroidery, while gold trim on the red laces adds a slightly unexpected touch.
The Nike Dunk Low Retro “Black/University Red” will drop on May 1, 2026 for $120 through Nike.com and select retailers.
