There is no easing into this one. Pulled straight from the kind of bold, futuristic design language that made early-2000s runners unforgettable, Nike’s latest Shox release arrives with a look that clearly taps into Iron Man energy without overplaying it.
A Team Crimson upper sets the tone, covering the perforated synthetic build, mesh toe box, tongue, and laces in one rich shade. Along the sides, the molded shell shifts between bronze and gold with a glossy finish that gives the pair its armored feel. That color play is what pushes this release beyond a standard retro runner and into something far more striking.
Black accents then keep everything tied together, hitting on the outlined Swoosh, tongue branding, heel impressions, and outsole. Bright Crimson then accentuates everything through the Swoosh fill and iconic Shox tubes up in the heel for even more of a pop visually. The contrast helps the upper from reading flat while allowing the metallic overlays on each side of the shoe to do most of the talking.
Nike has leaned on the Shox platform a handful of ways these past couple years, but this shoe feels purposeful. Rather than just leaning on old nostalgia, Nike let’s the silhouette’s forward-thinking shape compliment a colorway that already plays out like a movie.
