Vans’ in-house designers no doubt deserve credit for sustaining their cultural moment, but in truth, much of what the skating company is currently enjoying doesn’t come to pass without the work of Satoshi Nakamoto. By bringing together industrial styling and jewelry-inspired detailing on the Old Skool, he both birthed a tide-shifting “grail” in the brand’s current canon and carved out a new lane of expression that we’re still seeing on the newswire today.
So though inline efforts remain a fixation for us and the brand themselves, how better to keep up the energy than returning to the source? As official images of the Satoshi Nakamoto x Vans Era come to light, we’re seeing confirmation that the partnership will step into its third year and onto its second model overall. The archival shoe still does plenty well in adapting the dueling high/low concept, replete with heavy distressing in the upper materials, deep discoloration in the soles, and an array of multicolor gemstones outlining the collar and toe.
Departing from the Old Skool may mark a divergence from what the relationship has built out so far, but comes at a sensible time for the skating brand’s purposes. The Vans Era, one of their oldest and most storied sneakers, celebrates 50 years, and has been a major tenet in how they’ve ushered in their 60th anniversary overall.
Initially earmarked for a February 2026 release, the Satoshi Nakamoto x Vans Era doesn’t have concrete release info just yet, but these official shots do indicate that a release is coming soon. For now, check out the full suite of images below and make sure you keep our coverage close (including our Sneaker Release Dates hub) as the story plays out.
