Official Images Of The Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Banned”

If the mythology of Michael Jordan lacing up a black and red pair of Nike’s despite the wishes of the NBA wasn’t already elevated enough, look to the brand’s messaging in 2025 to see how central it is to their continuing mission. In a year where the Undefeated Jordan 4 came back to shelves and Nigel Sylvester made mainstream headlines with his “Brick by Brick,” still it was the Air Jordan 1 Hi ’85 “Bred” that recieved the fiercest marketing push, infecting Nike.com product pages and inciting fines on Beaverton’s actual campus.

Just over a year after that “OG” style pair took over the sneakersphere, the “Banned” concept is back in our lives again as the Air Jordan 1 Low OG takes on its red and black. Following the usual cadence of first looks and in-hand images, official studio shots from Nike reveal this pair in full, including “X” logos on the heels a la the 2016 High and explanatory text on the insoles, citing September 15th and October 18th as seminal dates in the “Banned” story for the shoe’s creation and its infamous barring from pro action.

With the increased attention to the tale in 2025, we may not need to toss in this disclaimer, but it’s worth mentioning every time: though the “Banned” has become synonymous with the Air Jordan 1, the actual prohibited shoe was the Air Ship. Despite that, its debut on the Air Jordan 1 Low OG adds to a rich lineage of inspired takes on Mike’s first signature shoe; whether it’ll be able to replicate the craze of its higher counterpart remains to be seen.
