Takashi Murakami’s Ohana Hatake Drops The Onsen Collection II

Due to the island nation’s high volcanic activity, Japan is home to more than 25,000 natural hot springs, or “onsen,” spanning every region and supporting roughly 3,000 registered resort destinations. That geography has already informed Takashi Murakami’s Ohana Hatake output, and now it’s back in focus. Following the inaugural Onsen Collection late last year, the Japanese artist is circling back with a fresh batch timed up for spring.

Murakami launched his independent Ohana Hatake label in 2024 and has since explored multiple silhouettes rooted in traditional Japanese indoor footwear. That includes the Full Bloom, defined by a bold molded strap inspired by Murakami’s signature smiling flower motif. The Onsen Collection II instead lands on the Surippa, a more understated option inspired by Murakami’s KaiKai Kiki studio team slide. The Surippa is built from soft EVA foam with a rubber outsole stamped with Murakami’s smiling flower, while the same motif is etched along the lateral side.

The Onsen Collection II delivers Purple Ash, Mineral Blue, and Birch colorways, all available now via the Ohana Hatake website. The Purple Ash gradient look is priced at $80, while the Mineral Blue and Birch pairs retail for $70.
