We’ll say it until it stops being true: it’s nearly unthinkable how the Shox line has gone leaps and bounds beyond Vince Carter’s original high-flying basketball applications. Becoming a trendy choice as the Shox R4 and Shox TL stamped the maximalist platform in the modern era, the Swoosh has spotted that validity in womenswear and taken it the distance, leading us to formal models like the Nike Shox Z Calistra.
First debuted with the help of Naked Copenhagen, that story left us in an interestingly middle ground; hard for us to parse out whether it was Naked’s influence that birthed the new model or if they only owned the colorway. As Shanghai-based Labelhood ushers in their own take, we get confirmation that it was the latter, and this pointed redux is here to stay. The overseas outfit wraps the shoe entirely in patent leather with bloody trim in the spaces between, including on a new lace closure system to bolster the leather strap. With the brooding palette overall and specifically those fire red accents, it’s a coy embrace of some “Red Bottom” style with the added bonus of sporty Shox cushioning.
The Labelhood x Nike Shox Z Calistra doesn’t have a concrete release date at the moment, nor is it known whether this style will see a global release or be siloed to Asian markets.
