The run of rare TV-inspired Jordan samples keeps getting stronger. After the rare Air Jordan 10 “Martin” Samples surfaced, sample collector @depeche23mode has now shared another standout: the Air Jordan 5 Laceless Fire Red Fresh Prince Sample, a one-off concept that ties Jordan heritage to one of the most memorable style moments in 90s television.
At a glance, the shoe stays close to the classic Air Jordan 5 “Fire Red” setup. White leather covers the upper, while black midsoles and bold red shark-tooth accents keep the original energy intact. Red lining adds even more pop, so despite the sample twist, the model still looks unmistakably like a Fire Red 5.
The biggest change is the missing lacing system. Like the Air Jordan 5 NRG “Fresh Prince” from 2018, this pair removes the traditional lace setup as a direct nod to Will Smith’s famous no-lace styling in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. That 2018 release dropped on September 25, 2018 in a White, Grape Ice, Black, and New Emerald color scheme, making this Fire Red sample feel like an alternate take on that same idea.
This sample also pushes the storytelling further. The tongue includes “West Philadelphia” branding, a clear reference to the opening line from the show’s theme song and Will Smith’s hometown in the series. Inside, the striped insoles bring in another colorful Bel-Air-inspired touch that gives the pair even more personality.
This Air Jordan 5 Laceless “Fire Red/Fresh Prince” Sample is not expected to release. Still, when you line it up with the Air Jordan 10 “Martin” Samples, the 2018 Air Jordan 5 NRG “Fresh Prince,” and the ultra-limited “Black Metallic” Air Jordan 5 Bel-Air from 2023, the bigger story becomes clear. That “Black Metallic” version was created in a run of just three pairs, adding another ultra-rare chapter to Jordan Brand’s long connection with iconic TV nostalgia.
