The NBA Playoffs are tantalizingly close, and though most squads have turned their attention to jockeying for position within the top 10, there’s still plenty of time to make an impact in the regular season. The duel of presumptive top 3 MVP finishers in Victor Wembanyama and Nikola Jokic this past weekend was plenty of proof. Though Jalen Brunson didn’t have a likely fellow All-NBAer on the other side in Chicago, he brought enough on his own merits to make headlines, debuting a new Nike Kobe 5 inspired by his daughter Jordyn.
Like many of his previous personal pairs, Jalen provided fans with looks both on the NBA hardwood and with colorful studio shots, allowing us to really get a handle on how this sentimental edition shakes out. Seemingly taking cues from a favored pair of PJs for the younger Brunson, the Nike Kobe 5 in question begins with a comprehensive dose of hot pink a la a “Kay Yow,” but works in those nighttime threads with cutesy blue, red, and pink mini hearts. In the most heartwarming detail, Jordyn’s 2024 birthdate is stamped on the left heel.
Though we’ve become accustomed to what Jalen wears hitting the shelves via the Statue of Liberty Kobe 6 and an expected drop for the Kobe 3 “Arancia,” these closer-to-home variations are almost assuredly staying in JB’s closet.
