Anything you can do… While there are countless unpredictable or off-the-wall stories in any given year in sneakers, one of the more memorable was the news of the Delta Nike Air Force 1 Low, somehow becoming something of a resale commodity despite originally being drawn up as an employee exclusive.
Two rivals of either principal player in that story are now firing back. United Airlines, amid its 100th year of operation, has turned to the Three Stripes to ring in the celebration, now unveiling a proudly blue edition of the classic indoor soccer shoe. United’s iconic square logo sits on the heel of the left shoe before looking on a gilded 100 stamp on the other. Otherwise, this sticks to the Samba’s strengths, complete with a gum sole and a grey toe.
Those who attempted to grab a pair of the Swoosh’s counterpart last year will know that despite its production origins, the general public was able to secure pairs as checkout/product pages paced the newswire. So though adidas and United promise this Samba will be entirely exclusive to employees via the United Shop, we’ll certainly be watching for any info to the contrary. Check out additional angles of the shoe below.
