In the various stops in her journey as a star, the “Barbie” moniker has followed Angel Reese wherever she’s gone. “Bayou Barbie” was how most of the world was first introduced to the eventual national champion, before retrofitting the nickname for her “Chi” and current “ATL” abodes. Off the court, she’s certainly filled out a resume befitting the classic girl’s doll, making history in the fashion world on top of her on-court achievements.
At long last, the actual toy company is bringing the Angel Reese x Barbie journey full circle. A full array of products is incoming, not least of which is Angel Reese becoming an actual Barbie doll, with a ton of attention to detail bringing the Dream forward into their canon. Beyond her signature single-leg sleeve, an Angel jersey sports both her #5 and #10 jersey numbers, representing her varsity/collegiate and pro years.
Pan down for the big development in our eyes: her doll sports a miniature version of the Barbie x Reebok Angel Reese 1, building a real moment into an existing partnership between the two companies. Reese’s silhouette has already embraced rosy looks plenty throughout its journey, but meets the moment with inventive color-blocking; hot pink dominates the heel and collar while pristine white takes up nearly the entire front half. Bright yellow and subtle lavender work in the spaces between before a Barbie stamp on the tongue closes things out.
The Angel Reese Barbie doll is available at Target and major retailers online now. The Barbie x Reebok Angel Reese 1 is scheduled to release on August 3rd. Catch studio shots of the shoes below and campaign images of the full capsule throughout this piece.
