The shoes of yesterday are always a source of potential inspiration for Jordan Brand, but we’re used to the tried-and-true classics making repeat appearances. As we plot the final drops of 2026 and the first few of next year, the company is looking to an underrated piece of their history to inform many of those upcoming pairs. Yes, the “Laser,” an etched patterning most notably used for anniversary celebrations in 2015 and on the Jordan 4 “Laser,” now returning to shelves in 2027, has become a major part of the upcoming release calendar again.

The Air Jordan 3 “Laser,” debuted with the help of signature signee Jayson Tatum, already set that in motion. Now, something of a companion piece is coming to light, as the Air Jordan 1 Low OG takes on the same aesthetic. Sharing the earthy overtones used by the AJ3, Mike’s low-cut pastes the etchings across the quarter, eyestays, and collar, imbuing the shoe with a ton of brand-specific callouts in the process, with raw leather textures peeking out in those negative spaces.

A gum sole anchoring this design and fire red trim on the branding notes help ground it in some well-accepted cues that’ve been in the register for years. In a final flourish, the packaging also lives up to the name, as the classic black/white AJ1 box prints the shoe’s same patterns in the Swoosh branding.
