From a design perspective, the color palette is also meant to pay homage to two significant times of Robinson’s life. His Knicks inspiration symbolizes his ascension through the NYC hoops scene and his impact on courts nationwide from electrifying crowds with his gravity-defying jams. Seattle represents Robinson’s victory with Rainier Beach High School back in his day, a feat that his son would repeat in 2024, creating a legacy between father and son.
More mileage comes from the asymmetric upper built with a knit-composite tongue and collar. The mesh upper houses synthetic overlays and technical fibers to keep supportive qualities up while decreasing weight.
Still, the packaging carries just as much emotion. Artwork created by children undergoing dialysis at Seattle Children’s Hospital ties back to Robinson’s kidney transplant journey, reinforcing the mission behind his partnership with EQLZ.
